Even though The Eadrax Project, the code behind WIPUP, is open-sourced (meaning anybody can easily create their own WIPUP), WIPUP.org itself is a single website. WIPUP.org aims to act in the best interests of the community, and as such we would love to keep it advertising free and free from single ownership. However this is only possible as long as the community helps us to break-even in terms of hosting costs.
WIPUP is currently kindly sponsored by the folks over at OpticEmpire. They provide the servers, the software, and the hardware support that make this whole thing possible. They're not looking for financial reimbursement but would greatly appreciate spreading the word about their services. They have a range of reliable business web hosting and personal web hosting packages to take a look at.
Alternatively, you can donate to the developers themselves. Developers contribute out of charity and thus donations are merely an alternative way to saying thank you. It won't help out with the day-to-day running of the site, but perhaps that pizza they purchase after your donation will motivate them to create a new awesome feature. Or something. The following list is of our current and active developers of which you may donate to them directly:
- Dion Moult
Lead developer and creator of WIPUP. Everything that currently exists is done by Dion Moult.
Help create something amazing.
WIPUP.org, like the name, is a work-in-progress - so if you feel like you want to shape its future, then join in the fun and contribute. Technical ability is a bonus, but not a requirement.
If interested, you can find more details on the Eadrax project space. It contains a wiki, a ticketing system (for bugs, feature requests, etc), and everything you need to know about the project.
